Maverick Viñales heads to Valencia for title showdown
This weekend will see the final and all deciding race of the Moto3 world championship at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.
As it’s customary, Cheste brings the season to a close, but this Sunday 3 riders will be fighting for the Moto3 crown, one of which is Maverick Viñales. The excellent consistency of the Team Calvo rider kept his chances on the title open until this last round, and if Maverick can bring home a win on Sunday, he’ll be crowned world champion.
But his rivals, Luis Salom and Alex Rins, will have exactly the same goal, and therefore Team Calvo’s work this weekend will be crucial.
Ana Carrasco will go into the last race of the season with a lot more experience and one point in the bag. The Team Calvo rider hopes to be able to return to the points in Valencia to finish of a great first year in Moto3 on a high.

I arrive in Valencia very well prepared, very motivated, and most of all I can’t wait to get back on the bike to do what I know best. After some steady work all year we go into this last rounds with everything still to gain and surely it’ll be a very tense race. We have to work very hard all weekend to find a good setup so that everything goes perfectly on Sunday and we can fight for the win. I have to give my all. I like this circuit a lot, I’ve always had good results here and we just have to enjoy it and make the most of it.

After the overseas tour we return to a circuit I know well, and I believe everything I have learnt can be very helpful this weekend. The aim is to finish the year in the points and also to get as close to the times of the top riders as possible, even though this will be difficult. They’re racing for the championship and it’ll be a difficult race. Cheste is not one of my favourite circuits but to know the track will definitely be an advantage, and after the winter tests here we’ve got a good bike setup to begin working on for this weekend.

It’s the last race of the season and we put everything on one card. We’re very happy that we’ve good this opportunity and even more so in Valencia in front of the home crowd and our sponsors, because this in itself is already an achievement. And on Sunday, as they say, may the best rider win. For Anita this could be the chance to have the best race of the season. During the preseason tests here she was very good and if she applies everything that she’s learnt this season, I’m convinced she’ll bring home some more points.
