Positive first Moto2 test for Salom and Vinales at Jerez
The Tuenti HP 40 team and their new riders Luis Salom and Maverick Viñales are on their way to the Circuito Ricardo Tormo de Cheste after finishing two intense days of testing at the circuit of Jerez and continuing their testing programme.
Both riders continued their adaptation to the new class and focused on getting a lot of laps in on their Kalex bikes, Maverick doing 199 laps in total and Luis 163.
Current Moto3 champion Viñales worked on finding the right setting for his new bike while continuing to adapt to the new things compared to Moto3.
Mallorcan Salom also worked on getting the bike set up to his liking and finding a setting with which he feels comfortable. Both riders finished the test with a good feeling and confident in continuing their progress in the next test on Monday.
MAVERICK VIÑALES: “We finished two intense days of testing in which we’ve done a lot of kilometres. The feeling with the bike is very good. We continue to adapt to the differences between the Kalex Moto2 and the Moto3 which I have been riding so far. Today I didn’t feel much difference with the speed and acceleration like I did yesterday. Now we go to Valencia to continue with the adaptation and keep progressing. I want to thank the team which has given me a warm welcome and helps me a lot.”
LUIS SALOM: “I am very happy with how this test has gone. Little by little we are picking up the pace in this new class. The riding is different and you have to adapt. I feel very good physical and although this bike needs more strength I didn’t notice anything special. The team is helping me a lot and every time I go back on track the bike rides more how I like it. I want to say Thanks for the support they’re giving me. Now we go to Cheste where we’ll continue to work hard to keep up with the established programme.”
