The dreaded rain forecast for today luckily didn’t affect most of the day’s qualifying sessions at Jerez. In cool temperatures, Quartararo in Moto3™, Mariñelarena in Moto2™ and Morales in Stock Extreme performed superbly in today’s qualifying sessions.

In Moto3, Fabio Quartararo (FRA-FTR) set a stunning lap of 1:47.100, which puts him in first place for tomorrow’s start. Together with the Wild Wolf Racing rider will be Albert Arenas (SPA-FTR) and Hafiq Azmi (MAL-KTM). Azmi set the second fastest time of the day, but will start in third place, behind Arenas, as the quickest rider from Group B. Starting from the second row in fifth and sixth places will be María Herrera (SPA-KTM), current leader of the championship, and Alejandro Medina (SPA-KTM), second in the overall standings.

In Moto2, riders started the day with the track still damp. Alejandro Mariñelarena (SPA-Kalex) was fastest in both timed practice sessions, although the Targobank rider had to wait for the second round with the track now dry to chalk up his best lap in the dying moments of the session. Right alongside him will be Hafizh Syahrin (MAL-Kalex), classifying just over six thousandths of a second behind the pole position rider. As in the previous round, Sebastián Porto (ARG-Kalex), will close out the front row. Román Ramos (SPA-Ariane), overall leader in the rankings, will start from the fourth slot. The fastest Superstock 600 rider was Julián Puffe (GER-Yamaha).

The Stock Extreme riders had a worse time of things: caught out by the drizzle at the start of the second practice session, most preferred to stay in the pits. Carmelo Morales (SPA-Kawasaki) took the lead in the morning session and earned his second consecutive pole position. At his side on the front row tomorrow will be the current leader of the points table, Xavi Forés (SPA-Ducati), who used the opportunity of a few laps in the second session to make some final adjustments. The third slot on the grid goes to Iván Silva (SPA-BMW Motorrad). Eeki Kuparinen (FIN-BMW Motorrad) set the fastest lap in the Spanish Stock Extreme Cup in his first outing in the CEV Repsol.

The race schedule is as follows (local time):
11:00 Stock Extreme (17 laps)
12:00 Moto2 (17 laps)
13:00 Moto3 (16 laps)
14:00 Stock Extreme (17 laps)
