Juanfran Guevara improves by 3 seconds in one day at Jerez
Just five days after the first official test of the pre-season in Valencia, a host of Moto2 and Moto3 riders returned to action yesterday, this time in the south of Spain at Jerez.
This second winter test comprises three more days of practice, and as in Valencia, the riders have two combined sessions, plus an additional hour dedicated exclusively to their own category until the close of play at six. Today’s action took place under blue skies and in perfect conditions to improve on yesterday’s lap times, with Jack Miller setting the pace with a lap of 1’46.278.
Juanfran Guevara is approaching this test with the same enthusiasm as he showed at his first outing of the year at Valencia last week and the ASPAR Team rider continued to work just as hard today.
After a cautious start yesterday he stepped up the pace and found three full seconds to stop the clock at 1’47.049 on his 67th of 70 laps in total. As well as lowering his lap time the Spanish youngster also showed better consistency and showed signs of improving his riding and his set-up.
13th Juanfran Guevara 1.47.049 (70 laps):
“We continued working along the same lines as yesterday and started out with a similar setting. The biggest change we made from there was to shorten the wheelbase and then we did a bit of work to increase the support on the rear and, as a result, the grip. Everything we tried today seemed to work and as soon as we put some new tyres in I could really feel the difference. I am happy with what we found today, the pace is pretty good and the lap times are far better than yesterday. We have taken a few steps forward today so hopefully we can do the same tomorrow and break into the 1’46s.”
