Efren Vazquez arrives in Qatar in good shape and ready to race

Through February and March the SAXOPRINT – RTG Team and riders have already been testing in the sunny and at times also stormy Spain.

The first tests with the new bikes went very well and the riders improved session by session. At the last official IRTA test last week in Jerez, the riders took excellent 2nd and 3rd positions. Of course, team and riders will be striving for the same each race. Efren certainly believes consistent top 5 positions are realistic and John wants at least the top 10.

And so this weekend they open their 2014 accounts with the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar. Another 18 races will follow until the November finale.

The approx 50 million euros Losail racetrack is located right in the desert. To keep the desert sand away from the track, it is surrounded by art lawn. The clockwise circuit is 5.38 km long and stands out due to its 16 curves; ten of these right handed and six to the left.

It is regarded as very demanding and separates itself by two difficult slow turns and a couple of fast courageous curves. It has a very good grip and gigantic run on zones to ensure the safety of the riders.

Efren Vazquez (rider):
“I arrived to Qatar in perfect physical conditions and we want to fight in this first race – I want to say thanks to the team for their work in the winter test beacause we are now on the correct way for fighting to be the top Honda bike. We’ll see what happens in the race but for sure we will try our best this week!”
