Efren Vazquez makes Qatar podium

Efren made a really good start, going into the race from grid position fifteen, and slotted into eighth place during the first lap. John was able to defend his seventh place at the start but had to let his teammate past. The two RTG riders finished lap one in seventh and ninth position respectively.

While Miller and Marquez broke away at the front, Efren was leading the chasing group with John back in seventh spot. For many laps Efren was embroiled in battle with Alex Rins, fighting for the last podium position.

In a nail-biting last lap, Efren was able to use the slip stream to his advantage on the finish straight and managed to secure himself third place and therefore the last spot on the podium. John narrowly missed out on a top ten position, he finished eleventh.

I am really happy with this first podium of the season. The team did a good job during the whole weekend. We found a good setting during warm-up and I was very focussed and pushed hard for the entire race, earning us the first podium of the season. I want to say thank you to the team and all the sponsors and hope we continue to fight for the podium.
