Isaac Viñales and Team Calvo ready to race in Austin
On Saturday, the weather conditions changed a lot during the course of the day at the Circuit of the Americas. In the morning it was very overcast while in the afternoon the qualifying sessions were held under blue skies and plenty of sunshine, but a strong wind complicated things a bit.
Czech rider Jakub Kornfeil struggled with the conditions a lot but despite this he managed to get a very good lap and will start the race from row two on the grid.
His teammate Isaac Viñales will start from the row behind him. The Spaniard had problems with the setup of his KTM but he is confident that the team will be able to solve the issue before the race.
The one with the worst luck was Brazilian rider Eric Granado who suffered two crashes, the heavier one in the afternoon when he went down in an area of the track which caught many riders out. Bruised and achy, he’ll start the race from position 19.

To be honest the result isn’t great, but we do have a good pace, and that’s the most positive aspect going into the race. But we’ll start from row three on the grid and we have to get a good start and a good first lap to stand a chance to be battling higher up the field. We’ll see what we can do. We have to improve the setup a bit more because the bike bounces and I can’t push as much as I would want to. On a positive note, I’m fast on used tyres, but during warm-up we’ll have to find something more for the race.
