It was a day of mixed fortunes for RTG rider Efren Vazquez at Rio Hondo – putting in a spirited and competitive performance which sadly did not come to fruition.

Efren got a good start leading from the line but was overtaken by Fenati and Miller shortly after. Teammate John also got away from the line quickly and could advance to fifth place. He briefly even found himself in fourth place behind Miller, Fenati and Vazquez. But wanting too much he pushed too hard and crashed.

Six laps from the end, Efren was in fourth but had to let Livio Loi and shortly before the chequered flag also Rins past. He crossed the finish line in sixth position and collected very valuable points for the championship.

Efren Vazquez
“Not the result we expected this weekend. But in the end it’s the best I could do in the race. And most importantly we could collect some points for the world championship. We’re 3rd in the standing now. Next weekend we go to Jerez and hope we can continue in the same good way.”
