Efren Vazquez aiming to make best of Mugello race from fourth row start
Both SAXOPRINT RTG riders had hoped for more in today’s qualifying in Mugello. Hopes were high after achieving upper-end positions during FP3 in the morning, but in the afternoon both riders struggled with too much traffic out on track and couldn’t find the right timing to attempt a fast lap.
Despite high speed both were not able to post a quick time and stayed below their fastest lap times from the morning session. Both are hopeful to be able to do better in Sunday’s race. Efren will start from position 10 on the grid, with teammate John McPhee will be right by his side on the grid.
Efren Vazquez
“It was a difficult session for us. But we got good confidence from FP3 for the race tomorrow. Towards the end, we tried to do a fast lap in qualifying but I just couldn’t get one in. Tomorrow I just want to concentrate on the race and will make a good start. Unfortunately there are a lot of riders in front of me. But I will do my best. We have a good speed. So we will see.”
