It was a hard day for Avintia Racing rider Héctor Barberá who will start tomorrow’s race from 19th position. There has been a lot of hard work happening in the Avintia Racing box during these past two days.

After the test at Aragón at the beginning of this week, Héctor continued carrying out different tests with the chassis, especially with regards to the new material it’s made of. This new chassis brings some improvements, but Héctor needs to get more kilometers under his belt to be able to draw any real conclusions about this development, and therefore he finished the qualifying session with the old bike, which he’d been using all year.

The Valencian rider finished the session less than half a second behind the Hondas and Yamahas who will be in front of him on the grid.

We’ve been trying a new chassis here and it seems that it works a bit better, but it makes the bike a lot more aggressive on the brakes and on the gas. It’s like we tested it in Aragón but with a different configuration. I tried to make it work all weekend but in the end we tried the old bike again because I knew I could get the times with that one. The new bike looks promising but we need to do more kilometers to say for certain and to fins a good setup. Let’s see how tomorrow goes. Edwards is two tenths in front of me but he’s on a Yamaha, and Aoyama is four tenths ahead on a Honda. I’ll have to go to the limit to see what our bike can do.
