Aleix Espargaro fastest in front of his home crowd
The first day of the Catalunya GP saw the NGM Forward Racing rider Aleix Espargaro on top of the time sheets with the Spaniard setting a superb 1’41.672.
It was a positive start for the NGM Forward Racing Team with Aleix who finished the morning session with the fastest time, position that he maintained in the combined classification.
In front of his home crowd Aleix continued working on the electronics in the FP2 in order to improve his feeling with the bike when the temperatures are getting higher (55°C asphalt temperature) and the track becomes very slippery.
Espargaro couldn’t improve his lap times in the afternoon but he will continue to work tomorrow in preparation of the race.
Aleix Espargaro
“I’m happy with this morning’s result. We were able to do a fast lap and also the pace was quiet good. We suffered more in the afternoon with the hot temperatures as the track was very slippery and the traction control was not supporting us as we would like. We made some changes on the front and we tested some different electronics settings, but we couldn’t improve our lap times and tomorrow we will keep on working on the electronics”.
