Ricky Cardus today completed round 9 of the Moto2 world championship in 11th place after a resolute and untiring race around the 3671 metre Sachsenring circuit.

After having qualified in 16th position aboard the Tech3 Racing Team’s self designed Mistral 610 yesterday the Spanish rider undertook a bright start to superbly overhaul three riders by the end of lap 1.

As the race progressed Cardus set into a formidable rhythm, setting his fastest time of the day on 14th out of 29 laps.

He remained with the five riders in front who he attempted to close down prior to getting locked in a fierce battle with Xavier Simeon before crossing the finish line in 11th position to collect another batch of well-deserved world championship points.

“I am satisfied to once again take another points scoring finish with 11th place. I feel that this race was very important for me and it’s good to leave for the mid season break with some more championship points in my back pocket but of course I aimed for a top 10 finish. Nevertheless I’m pleased with my first half of the season and after one week of holidays I will be back to train hard for Indy which is a circuit I particularly like. Regarding today, the race itself has been a very challenging one but I put in everything that I had. The bike was good and I set the third fastest speed through the speed trap, plus I finished in front of my team mate which is always my first goal. I truly want to give a massive thanks to the Tech3 Racing Team for all of their hard work in giving me the best bike. Every practice we worked really hard together and improved. I think there are still a lot of positives to come during the second half of the year.”
