Tech3 Racing Team rider Ricky Cardus completed the bwin Grand Prix Ceske republiky in a hard fought 20th position.

The Spanish rider began the 20 lap dash around the Brno circuit from 16th on the he grid and moved up one place by the first lap’s completion.

Cardus started pushing his hardest to close the four riders in front involved in the frantic battle for 12th in the intensely competitive intermediate class.

However, the Spaniard made a mistake and slipped back to 20th position by the 9th lap, despite his best efforts and concluded round 11 of the 2014 world championship in this position.

“It goes without saying that I wished the race would have turned out differently to brighten up this tricky weekend for me, but unfortunately this has not been the case. I still can take some positives from today as I wasn’t too far back from the leader with the overall gap, especially considering that I have never really enjoyed riding at this circuit. Moreover, I had an issue with shifting up in the gearbox that’s why I made a couple of mistakes as I was trying to compensate for this problem, but I still wasn’t able to make up the lost ground. I really wanted to finish the race without crashing so when I realised that I was too far behind to get some points, I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks. I can’t do anything else now other than focusing on Silverstone which is the next race and I look forward to getting back in the points there.”
