The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli is the next stop for the MotoGP World Championship, with the Grand Prix of San Marino marking the thirteenth of eighteen rounds and the penultimate race on European soil before the series heads across Asia and Australia, returning to Valencia for the season finale.

As well as remembering Marco Simoncelli, who the circuit is now named after, the Moto2 riders and indeed the rest of the paddock will also this weekend remember Shoya Tomizawa, who passed away following an accident at this circuit four years ago.

The title chase looks set to go down to the wire with team-mate Tito Rabat and Mika Kallio locked in combat, the Spaniard overcoming the Finn in a fantastic finale to the last race at Silverstone.

For MAPFRE Aspar rider Nico Terol, a race winner last season, this weekend is about rediscovering his form after missing the British round due to muscle fatigue.

The Spaniard has struggled with the issue all season but he has taken some much-needed time off to recover his strength and now he is determined to find his best form between now and the end of the season.

His team-mate Jordi Torres will welcome the return of his great friend with open arms as he looks to build on some solid work at Silverstone, which saw him score points. The objective this weekend, in what will be his 50th Grand Prix, is to return to the top ten at least.

Nico Terol:
“This short break has been a good chance for me to undergo some more medical tests, rest and recover for the next race. It has been a welcome period of recuperation for me and now I am looking forward to going to Misano. There are not many races left this season so we have to quickly get back in the groove. We made a big effort at Misano last year and it was a pretty good weekend for us so this time we will try to make it even better. The objective is to take small steps back in the right direction and to put an end to this bad run of form. It is not a very wide circuit and the there is not much grip because the surface is quite old. There is the odd fast corner, some tight sections and all in all you need a good set-up. It is frustrating for me after winning races last season to be be going through this period but watching a race from home gave me a lot of motivation to come back and to try and turn the situation around as soon as possible.”

Jordi Torres:
“After the good feeling we had at Silverstone we go into the next race full of motivation. I have been training hard to be as prepared as I can possibly be for every race. Misano is a difficult circuit but so was Silverstone and we took an important step forward there. I like Misano, it has some hard braking zones and I consider that to be a strength of mine so I am sure it will be good for us. The objective is to maintain the positive curve from the last race and improve our pace to match the guys at the front. We’ll be working hard from Friday, trying to understand what we need to be fast. We saw how tough it is to make up positions at Silverstone so we need to qualify well if we want to finish in the top ten.”
