After some thrilling multi-rider battles for victory in the Moto3 class recently the San Marino GP developed into a two horse race that was settled by just 0.042 seconds. After Jack Miller led for the opening three laps Alex Rins took control and dominated much of the race.

However, a late charge from Alex Márquez set up a breathtaking finish that went in favour of Rins, the Spaniard chalking up his second consecutive victory to close the gap to Miller, who finished third, at the top of the championship.

MAPFRE Aspar Team youngster Juanfran Guevara continued with his impressive recent progress as he gradually establishes himself as a category frontrunner. His fourth top ten finish of the season came on the back of a strong start and a consistent performance that culminated with three passes on the final two laps to take ninth place.

The Spaniard also secured a piece of history at Misano, his fourth lap (1’43.196) smashing the previous circuit record as he went eight tenths quicker than his qualifying lap yesterday.

9th Juanfran Guevara:
“We put together a strong race today and I learnt a lot. I held firm at the start and managed not to lose any positions, which meant we could run with the front group. The first sector is very twisty and it was difficult to overtake with so many riders together at the start. My pace was good and I enjoyed myself on the bike, even when the group got away from me I was able to close the gap back down quite easily again. In every race I am learning more about how to battle other riders in one on one situations and we even managed to break the circuit record today so I am very satisfied and looking forward to racing at home in the next round at Aragón. I set pole positions there in the Spanish Championship and I always feel good at Motorland. We have to keep our feet on the ground though and keep working like we did this weekend to set higher goals.”
