Isaac Viñales in the top ten the first day of Motegi GP

The first day of free practice sessions has been rather positive for Team Calvo who finished in the top ten with two of their riders, Isaac Viñales and Jakub Kornfeil.

In the morning Isaac felt very comfortable and immediately stayed under the time of the circuit record, occupying second place at the end of the session. Jakub also had a fantastic pace but started things a little calmer.

In the afternoon both were able to improve their times, but also other riders picked up the pace, but Isaac and Jakub never went out on the softest rear tyre that Dunlop provided for this race.

For the first day it’s been ok but we have to work to improve the setup of the bike if we want to be able to achieve a good qualifying position tomorrow. We have various ideas to try tomorrow morning and to prepare ourselves for qualifying. The goal, as always, is a starting position on the first two rows of the grid. To start at the front is always important, but here even more so because there are two very long straights and you must not lose touch with the group in front to be able to fight for a good race result.
