FIM CEV Repsol announces 2015 Championship changes
A new FIM CEV Repsol in 2015 is shaping up, with the Championship announcing a change to its classes – which will now be as follows:
– FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship
– FIM CEV Repsol Moto2™ European Championship
– FIM CEV Repsol Superbike European Championship
The current FIM CEV Repsol will have new titles starting next season, taking another step forward in its international progression. Until now, the diverse cast of riders from all over the world who make up the starting grid of the championship – in addition to the races held at international circuits, together with the backing of the FIM – were responsible for the particular global character of the FIM CEV Repsol.
Additionally, the FIM during its General Assembly decided that from 2015 the Moto3™ category would become the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship. Also, in agreement with the FIM Europe, the Moto2™ and Superbike categories will adopt the new European Championship format from the same date.
With this, the FIM CEV Repsol aims to break down national barriers even further and make a quantum leap in the search for young riders of whatever nationality who are ready to make their name in the context of the championship.
“I am very happy that we have reached an agreement with Dorna that FIM CEV Repsol will feature two European Championship classes as of 2015”, says FIM Europe President Wolfgang Srb.
The calendar of events has been published by the FIM and is as follows:
26 April – Autódromo Internacional do Algarve – Portimão
17 May – Le Mans (Moto3™ only)
21 June – Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
5 July – MotorLand Aragón
6 September – Circuito de Albacete
4 October – Circuito de Navarra
1 November – Circuito de Jerez
15 November – Comunitat Valenciana – Ricardo Tormo
