Good results from Isaac Viñales & Maria Herrera in difficult Austin race

The second round of the season brought an eventful Moto3 race. Even though the event was declared dry, the track conditions were complicated since they were mixed in some points of the Austin circuit.

Despite the dificulty of the race, both of the Husqvarna Factory LaGlisse riders managed to finish the race, trying to obtain the best result possible. Isaac Viñales couldn’t follow the leading group’s pace, where he rode during the first stages of the race. Some trouble with the shift gear pulled him apart from fighting for the best positions, but he made it to the ‘top 10’ once again.

María Herrera finishined just two positions behind the points, after improving from the 31st position at the starting grid. The toledan had problems with the brake again, but they didn’t stop her from progessing during the race. Her seventeenth position in Austin equals her best result in a World Championship Race, that happened in Jerez last year.

After a complex race, the Husqvarna Factory LaGlisse has already set its mind in Argentina, with the objective of keeping the improvement. The championship returns next week and the team will give the 100% to get a good result at Termas de Río Hondo.

#32 Isaac Viñales – 9º
“It wasn’t a good race, since the bike developed too much at the straight and we lacked in acceleration. I had to make it up at breaking points and that wore the front tire away. But this is racing. Now we have to focus on Argentina, where we will give our best from Friday”.

#6 María Herrera – 17ª
“I made a good start, but when I saw the wet patchs I was careful in the first corner, what made some riders overtake me and I lost a few positions. I tried to catch the group that rode in front of me, but I had a problem with the brakes and I wasn’t able to brake as hard as I would have liked. I hope that we can improve in Argentina, so we can be competitive, because I didn’t feel comfortable here in Austin. Anyway, the race was fun because I fought with other two riders during most of it”.
