Isaac Viñales ready to fight for podium in Argentina from 5th, Maria Herrera lines up 24th
The good feeling with which the Husqvarna Factory LaGlisse finished the first day of practice at Termas de Río Hondo have confirmed during the qualifying session. Isaac Viñales and María Herrera have completed a great practice and face the third race of the season with real chances of getting a great result.
Isaac Viñales positioned himself in front at the beginning, and led the session for more than 20 minutes. Some problems with the front wheel of the last set of tyres stopped him from improving his time in the last moments, but nonetheless, he finished in an excellent fifth position and, above all, very satisfied with the pace in regards to a race where he aims to be in the podium.
It has been a very positive day for María Herrera as well, since she keeps improving on the go. The Toledan achieved a great lap time again, even though the traffic stopped her from improving during the last minutes. However, she finished less than half a second away from the tenth qualifier in a very tight session. María’s objective for Sunday’s race will be to fight for scoring her first points in the World Championship.
#32 Isaac Viñales – 5th / 1’48.883
“I’m quite happy. We were able to fix the problems we had and completed a great qualifying session, leading for a long time. It was a shame that the front tyre of the last set had a lot of chatter and stopped me from improving my time. But we’re satisfied and have a good pace for tomorrow. It will be a group race, I belive nobody will escape, so we will try our best”.
#6 María Herrera – 24th / 1’49.866
“We planned the session quite correctly. We went out in a group and I learned a lot to improve my lines in regards to the race. I felt so comfortable and improved in a lot of places. I missed improving my time in the last lap, when I was riding a few tenths faster to climb a few positions, but a rider bothered me. We have a good pace to be able to fight for the points, so I’m happy with this qualifying”.
