Jorge Martin signs off for the summer with Sachsenring points finish

There were no surprises in the Moto3 race at Sachsenring today as Danny Kent continued his form during practice to dominate from the front. Only his teammate Efrén Vázquez was able to give chase, leaving a group of nine riders behind them to fight it out for the final podium position.

After a race-long battle with a constant pace in the low 1’28s, Enea Bastianini finally came out on top in the fight for third.

After his best qualifying performance of the season yesterday, MAPFRE Team Mahindra rider Jorge Martín’s objective was to try and follow the lead group in the race and he pulled it off with a performance that will serve as great experience for the future.

After 27 tough laps he crossed the line in twelfth place, picking up four more points to add to his total, taking him to twelve for the season so far.

Teammate Juanfran Guevara sadly was forced to watch from the sidelines, as he continues to nurse the injuries he suffered yesterday.

12th Jorge Martín:
“The race went to plan. I got a pretty good start and tried to go with the lead group. I hung on until the last seven or eight laps, when the bike overheated a little and we lost some performance. I had to get on the gas earlier and that wore out the tyres. We have picked up four points, which gives us a nice boost going into the summer break. The important thing today was that I learnt a lot from following the lead group. Today we saw that Kent is on another level at the moment but we are more consistent and more effective every time. We knew this would be a tough race because there is no place to rest at Sachsenring, but I stayed strong until the end.”
