DNF finishes Misano hopes for Efren Vazquez

Slightly changed weather conditions with some clouds above the Misano World Circuit didn’t affect Moto3 action on track during today’s round 13 of this year’s series. As soon as the lights went out a big fighting group built the front. Leopard Racing’s riders Danny Kent and Efren Vazquez were amongst them and played their role.

Whilst Championship leader Kent was watching the hot action in front of him, Vazquez pushed at his limits to fight for a top position till a rider in front of him forced the experienced Spaniard to go straight in corner entry of turn four. Unfortunate Vazquez couldn’t avoid a fall.

#7 Efren VAZQUEZ – NC, World Championship position 6th (116 points):
“Unfortunately, we didn’t have any chance to fight for the positions at the fierce end today. I just was focussed to get a good confidence in riding with this big group but from the very early beginning we had definitely a disadvantage in terms of acceleration. So I had to ride very concentrated and I just tried to recover lost ground in corner entry because I felt strong on the brakes. But at time of my crash approaching turn four, Binder was braking really, really early and I had no another chance to avoid hitting him than to go straight. This was by using the rear brake a bit more than usual and I shifted back one more gear, but it was for nothing as the mistake happened. I’m sorry for my team because we lost a really good opportunity to add many points to our tally in this race. But foremost we need to analyse all data carefully because Bastianini and Antonelli have a faster bike than we, not only in terms of top speed but foremost regarding to their acceleration. I gave my best as soon as the lights went out but it wasn’t possible to finish this race.”
