Efren Vazquez lines up ninth on Sepang grid
Weather conditions didn’t change for day two of practice in Malaysia whilst the air pollution situation got a bit worse today, but didn’t affect time schedule or even the riders out on track.
Experienced Spaniard Efren Vazquez tried his utmost to help teammate Danny Kent to use the two long straights at the Sepang track to his advantage, but the track was too crowded at this time to give the season’s outstanding Moto3 rider a good slipstream.
Vazquez himself was riding behind Kent in his final run for a fast lap time to be recorded fourth fastest man on track finally but he also drop down the order by one row.
Moto3™ action gets underway on Sunday at lunchtime, which means one more time an early wake-up call for European race fans. Teams and riders have to endure a demanding 18 laps race distance.
#7 Efren VAZQUEZ, Grid position 7th – 2´12.956 (13/13):
“This qualifying went more or less in the way like at Phillip Island two weeks’ time ago. Everyone wanted to get Danny’s slipstream. However, it was difficult to focus on a really fast lap time because of that. I tried to help Danny to give him a good slipstream on the straight for which I really was fighting for his advantage to try to pull away from the rest during the other parts of the track. But it was impossible. So we have to wait and see again, who of the riders will get a penalty and in which form. In any case, I think we have a good pace for tomorrow’s race but it’s almost impossible to prepare in a better way like this when these kind of things happen.”
