Today was the turn of the smaller category riders to contest just one session on track at Losail but there was no holding back in Moto3, as Navarro and Binder set the early pace before Livio Loi resumed his domination at the top of the timesheets.

Late efforts from Quartararo and Binder dislodged the Belgian, the Frenchman breaking the 2.05 barrier to lead a close field into tomorrow’s qualifying.

Working with used tyres was the main focus for Jorge Martín today at Losail as he continues to work towards Sunday night’s race.

The Aspar Mahindra rider spent the first part of tonight’s session on old rubber, maintaining his strong and consistent pace from yesterday whilst also managing to solve some of the front chatter issues he has encountered here.

The Spaniard’s goal is to improve his performance on softer rubber ahead of qualifying tomorrow. P

9th Jorge Martín 2.06.679 (12 laps):
“At the start of the session we worked on very used tyres because we don’t have many and we have to make the most of them; also it’s good preparation for the race. We set a pretty positive pace on those tyres and I am happy with that. Afterwards we made a change because the rear of the bike felt low, which helped me to feel comfortable again. At the end of the session we put some soft rear and soft front tyres in but I don’t have a good feeling with the soft front, I don’t think any of the Mahindras do. The bike was folding on me a lot but I still managed to set two fairly fast laps. We have reduced the chatter we had yesterday but we need to eliminate it fully before tomorrow. We are on the right lines but we have to keep working hard to break into the 2’05s.”
