Miguel Oliveira takes 11th in Qatar
It was a good first test for the Leopard Racing team on their Moto2 World Championship debut. A finish in the points was the goal and Miguel Oliveira duly delivered.
The young Portuguese fought hard against his rivals to make up places after a difficult start. Lap by lap he picked up the pace, posting his fastest time on the final lap.
The victory went to Thomas Luthi, who fought a race-long battle with Franco Morbidelli before the Italian took a time penalty for a jump start.
Miguel Oliveira eventually just missed the Top 10 on his debut in Moto2.
The next race is scheduled for the weekend April 1 to 3, at Termas de Rio Hondo for the Grand Prix of Argentina.
#44 Miguel OLIVEIRA – 11th:
“A positive first race for us, too bad for the first few laps when I had contact with several riders and almost fell, so by the third lap I was in last place. I did a great race on the comeback, I took my rhythm, I tried to give my best and the last step was my fastest lap. Argentina hope to see us continue to improve.”
