Alex Rins finishes fourth in Argentina after spectacular comeback
In the second GP of the season, which took place at the circuit of Termas de Rio Hondo, Páginas Amarillas HP 40 rider Alex Rins started from eleventh place on the starting grid determined to complete a comeback that took him to the top places.
After a very good start, Rins completed the first lap in fifth position, but four seconds of the leading group (Folger, Zarco, Lowes and Morbidelli).
Rins tried to reduce the gap but he was immersed in a fight with Syahrin and Aegerter in which they have lost time with the leading group, becoming of 9.8 seconds. When Rins passed the Swiss and Malay, he increased the pace and started to substantially reduce the gap with fourth-placed lap after lap to get to the end of the race just 3.4 seconds from the podium.
After a difficult start of the season, Rins is traveling to Austin, where this weekend will be held the third round of the championship, only 13 points behind the leader, Thomas Luthi.
4th – Alex Rins
“The start was not bad, but when I placed fifth I made some small mistakes that didn’t allow me to go as fast as I could. The track was very delicate, slowly was drying but you had to be very careful not to get in the wet areas. Slowly I took my pace and I started to spin fast but there wasn’t time to reduce the entire distance with the leading group. I want to thank the team, because they did a great job and I hope I can be back to the front from the first day un Austin”.
