It was a cautious start for Leopard Racing Team in the Moto2 class. The 5.5 kilometres of the Circuit of the Americas is the theatre for the third round of the 2016 World Championship, Miguel Oliveira and teammate Danny Kent taking to the track in the first two Free Practice sessions to improve the setting of their Kalex.

With the goal of returning to the points, which escaped in Argentina due to the weather conditions, the two riders immediately rolled up their sleeves under the guidance of Stefan Kiefer.

Miguel Oliveira focused on chassis set-up, with particular attention to the series of corners between 2 and 9. The Portuguese rider finished FP1 in 17th place and worked hard to improve his time by just over half a second. Although his time improved, his overall position sadly dropped to 22nd as he set a 2’11.698.

Saturday morning at 10:55 Local Time (GMT -5) the third and final free practice session begins. At 15:05 Local Time the official Moto2 class Qualifying session, that will decide the order on the grid of the Grand Prix of The Americas in 2016, will begin.

#44 Miguel OLIVEIRA – 22nd (2’11.698):
“The day has not started badly, I did a good first session where I was very close to the top 10, my pace wasn’t bad either. Then I found it difficult to stay with the other riders as we had some small issues, but we overcame them as a team eventually. I hope to continue working tomorrow to improve the bike.”
