CEV Repsol Moto3 JWC, Le Mans: dominant Dalla Porta takes victory
Lorenzo Dalla Porta (ITA-Husqvarna) notched up a hat trick in the second round of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship at the legendary Le Mans circuit, taking pole position, victory in the race itself and posting the fastest race lap. Kaito Toba (JPN-Honda) and Stefano Manzi (ITA-Mahindra) joined him on the podium.
Dalla Porta dominated right from the off. In the first few laps Toba, Ramírez and Manzi pulled away from the field along with the Italian but Dalla Porta and Toba soon eased away in front, while Manzi and Ramírez settled down to an entertaining scrap for third place on the podium.
A large group headed by Dennis Foggia (ITA-KTM), Jeremy Alcoba (SPA-Honda), Nakarin Atiratphuvapat (THA-Honda), Kazuki Masaki (JPN-Honda) and Albert Arenas (SPA-Mahindra) struggled to stay in touch with Manzi and Ramírez but finally finished the race more than 14 seconds behind Ramírez, who in the end lost the tussle for third place.
After the second Moto3™ Junior World Championship event, Marcos Ramírez (SPA-KTM) continues to lead the overall standings with 58 points, followed by Dalla Porta (ITA-Husqvarna) on 52 and Toba (JPN-Honda) on 51. Aleix Viu (SPA-Honda) remains at the head of the Moto3™ Production standings.
The “Repsol free fuel award” went to winner Lorenzo Dalla Porta.
The next FIM CEV Repsol event will be at MotorLand Aragón on 29th May, with one Moto3™ Junior World Championship race and two races in both the Moto2™ European Championship and Superbike European Championship classes.
