Páginas Amarillas 40 HP rider Álex Rins won the French Grand Prix. He started from the second position of the starting grid and dominated the race from the seventh lap, when he overtook Thomas Luthi, after several overtaking moves between the two riders.

When Rins was first he increased the pace in order to get some distance with the five-riders-group that had formed (Rins, Luthi, Corsi, Baldassarri and Morbidelli). Gradually the package of five has been reduced to only two men. Rins and Corsi were pushing and holding a small distance (between four and six tenths of a second). Rins decided to unleash his final attack with just four laps remaining. After that, the distance begun to increase gradually and the Spaniard finished with a margin of almost two seconds. It was his second win of the season.

Rins has been the first rderto repeat victory this season. Wins had been distributed among Luthi, Zarco, Rins and Lowes. The Englishman was the previous leader of the Moto2 standings, but now he has been relegated to the second position by the driver Rins, who has five points ahead of the Gresini rider.

Édgar Pons wasn’t able to compete in this Grand Prix. The current Moto2 European Champion continues his recovery from hepatitis A that was diagnosed just a month ago. Édgar continues to improve and he has an eye on the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, for which he expects to be in good condition and able to participate.

“It was a tough race. I had imagined a different race. When Luthi overtook me I did it back soon and I thought it was going to be a very funny race. When I took first I saw on the board that we were in a group of five and I decided to push hard. The group has been shrinking until it was just Simone and me. Then I thought it was better to stay in first position and see what happened. At the end I felt strong to increase the pace and I could win the race on a good way.”
