Alex Rins qualifies 8th, Edgar Pons 27th at Assen
The current leader of the Moto2 standings, Álex Rins, set the eighth fastest time at the Assen Qualifying Practice.
Rins achieved his best time just before the rain returned to dip completely and definitively the tarmac. His teammate, the reigning European Champion Edgar Pons, who suffered a fall this morning in which he fractured his left toe, had more problems.
Edgar also came out with wet tyres and was placed ninth in the first part of the training. Then, when they changed to slicks he gradually improved his times but has been relegated to the twenty-seventh position.

“Practice has been a bit tricky. Here in Assen track conditions change very quickly. We came out with wet tyres but then we saw that the track was to go on slicks. I got back to the box in order to change them and when I left I went with a little of care. I managed to put myself in third line, which is not what we wanted, but I trust it’s enough to compete in tomorrow’s race”

“We have come out with wet tyres at the start. We thought it would rain and so we decided to stay on track, but it has not. The track has been drying up and I entered to put slicks. When I left the track I only had time to give a couple of laps before starting to rain again. This morning I had my small finger broken, but I’m fine. Tomorrow we will try to do a good race and keep adding kilometers”
