FIM CEV Repsol reaches halfway point in the season at Albacete
Lorenzo Dalla Porta (ITA-Husqvarna) arrives at Albacete as leader of the Moto3™ Junior World Championship after his double in Barcelona, while Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) and Maximilian Scheib (CHI-BMW) head the Moto2™ European Championship and the Superbike European Championship leaderboards respectively.
The FIM CEV Repsol hits the halfway point at Albacete this weekend with the fifth event of the season. This time it will be the Superbike class which has a double program while Moto2™ and Moto3™ have one race each.
In Moto3™, Lorenzo Dalla Porta arrives at Albacete full of confidence after riding well to take an excellent tenth place last weekend at the Motul TT Assen in the MotoGP™ World Championship, where he stood in for the injured Jorge Navarro (SPA-Honda). Albert Arenas (SPA-Mahindra), taking the place of the injured Jorge Martin (SPA-Mahindra), wasn’t as fortunate: the Girona rider went down on the first lap of the race and suffered a hairline fracture in his left foot. In Moto3™ Production, Aleix Viu (SPA-Honda) continues as the top-ranked rider, but with Héctor Garzo (SPA-Honda) trailing him by just four points.
Steven Odendaal (RSA-Kalex) continues to lead the Moto2™ overall standings despite seeing his winning streak come to an end in Barcelona with Ricky Cardús (SPA-Transfiormers) and Remy Gardner (AUS-Kalex Honda) sharing the honours. Alan Techer (FRA-TPRO NTS) lost out badly in the fourth round of the Moto2™ European Championship in Barcelona when he crashed in the first race and was unable to ride in the second. The Frenchman remains second in the overall classification, but 39 points behind the leader. In Superstock 600, Ivo Lopes (POR-Kawasaki) is the class leader after Jacopo Cretaro (ITA-Yamaha), recovering from injuries sustained in the MotorLand pileup, was unable to race in Barcelona.
The struggle between Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) and Maximilian Scheib (CHI-BMW) is getting interesting. The Chilean rider hangs on as Superbike European Championship leader but the reigning Superbike champion has won his last three races, getting back into contention after losing out in Valencia because of a puncture. Santiago Barragán (SPA-BMW) will be worth watching and Alejandro Medina (SPA-Yamaha), is pretty much recovered from the practice injury which made him miss the MotorLand race and reduced his chances in Barcelona, where he nevertheless finished on the podium.
Valencian rider Óscar Climent (SPA-Yamaha) leads in the Superbike privateer class with 90 points, 40 ahead of Niko Mäkinen (FIN-Yamaha) in second slot.

As usual, entrance to the paddock will be free over the weekend. In addition, FIM CEV Repsol fans can pick up a pass (max. two per person) on Sunday from 9h onwards (from the Circuit de Albacete Repsol Hospitality) to join the Pit Lane walk that will start at 10.15h at the Control Tower.
In Spain, the races can be viewed live on the Movistar MotoGP channel which will broadcast all the races scheduled in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship, Moto2™ European Championship and Superbike European Championship categories. BT Sports (Great Britain) and Eurosport via Eurosportplayer (France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands) also offer coverage of the Moto3™ Junior World Championship, Moto2™ European Championship and Superbike European Championship with live broadcasts of each of the races through their digital network. In Italy, Sky will broadcast live the Moto3™ Junior World Championship race and the Moto2™ European Championship race.
