Industry news: Silverstone announce agreement with Circuit of Wales to run MotoGP British Grand Prix in 2017
Silverstone Circuit and the Circuit of Wales have today reached an agreement which will see the British round of MotoGP being hosted at Silverstone in 2017, with an option to extend to 2018. Whilst the 2017 MotoGP calendar is still to be confirmed, it is expected that next year’s event will be held in late August or early September.
John Grant, Chairman of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said, “I am delighted that we will be running MotoGP back at Silverstone next year. The size of this year’s crowd clearly shows the enthusiasm for the Championship which Silverstone’s fast flowing circuit shows to its very best.”
Michael Carrick, Circuit of Wales, commented, “Silverstone, together with our team from the Circuit of Wales, have done a fantastic job running the British round of MotoGP for the last two years and I am delighted that we have been able to agree terms to continue and develop our partnership.”
Further information regarding the event and how to book tickets will be available on the Silverstone website in the next two weeks.
