Iker Lecuona on fifth row at Losail

Sam Lowes and Iker Lecuona confirmed in Qatar Grand Prix qualifying by ending 10th and 15th respectively.  Despite the challenging conditions on the circuit, the two Swiss Innovative Investors KTM’s riders took the opportunity of the final free practice session early this afternoon to prepare their KTM for the first race of the season.

Iker Lecuona, who was delighted with the improvements he achieved, was only a second behind the benchmark time.

The Moto2 class will meet up again on Sunday for the warm-up, which will precede the opening race of the calendar kicking off at 17:20 (local time).

Iker Lecuona (15th – 2’01.355):

“It was much better than Friday. I was able to follow Álex Márquez and Miguel Oliveira to adapt my riding style. During the third session, I rode a little bit slower, but during qualifying, I improved a lot. I followed Sam for a few moments. I finished 15th, one second off the pole position, which is very close. Tomorrow, we’ll make some adjustments to the set-up to get a little more feeling at the front.”
