MotorLand Aragón welcomes FIM CEV Repsol
This coming weekend the FIM CEV Repsol passes the season’s halfway point with the 5th round of the season at MotorLand Aragón. The final round before the summer break sees Raúl Fernández (Angel Nieto Team) leading in Moto3™, Jesko Rafin (Swiss Innovative Investors Junior) in Moto2™ and Matteo Patacca (SIC 58 Squadra Corse) in the European Talent Cup.
In memory of Andreas Pérez a minute’s silence will be held on Sunday morning before racing to pay tribute to the Reale Avintia Academy 77 rider, who will never be forgotten.
In Moto3™, Raúl Fernández will defend a margin of just three points at the top of the standings against the threat of Manuel Pagliani (Leopard Junior). All eyes will be on the category leader after riding for the Red Bull KTM Ajo in the Pramac Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland in place of the injured Darryn Binder to earn an excellent ninth position.
Behind Manuel Pagliani and trailing Raúl Fernández by 36 and 38 points respectively, the two Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0.0 riders Jeremy Alcoba and Sergio Garcia will be trying to close the gap with the leader.
Jesko Raffin will race in MotorLand Aragon knowing that his immediate challenger in the standings, Augusto Fernández (EasyRace Moto2 Team), will end the season competing in the World Championship with Pons Racing as a substitute for Héctor Barberá and will not be in the next round of the Moto2™ European Championship. In third place, Edgar Pons (AGR Team) will be looking for his first victory of the season to close the gap with Jesko Raffin, a result that would serve to leave behind Dimas Ekky (Astra Honda Racing Team) who is tied with him on 49 points. Roman Fischer (Pinamoto RS) will be the rider to watch in Superstock 600 as the leader of the category.
In the ETC, Matteo Patacca, winner of the last two races and with 24 points over Julián Giral (Talent Team Estrella Galicia 0,0), will not be able to defend his leadership because of injury. Xavier Artigas (Honda Impala), second in Barcelona, will try to repeat his performance in the last race where he finished second in the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to cut back the gap of 31 points between him and the category leader.
The fifth round of the FIM CEV Repsol season at MotorLand Aragón has a two-race program in Moto2™ and ETC, with just one in Moto3™. Sunday’s race schedule is as follows (local time):
Moto2™ Race 1 (16 laps): 11.00
