Aron Canet and Hafizh Syahrin restart the Moto2 season with ambition
The Inde Aspar Team resumes the Moto2 season this weekend at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit, with two test sessions on Wednesday, which will help the riders to adapt to their bikes before the Spanish Grand Prix. The Moto2 World Championship riders arrive at the Jerez – Ángel Nieto circuit with the Japanese Tetsuta Nagashima as the leader after his victory in Qatar. At Losail, Lorenzo Baldassarri and Enea Bastianini were second and third, with Joe Roberts and Remy Gardner just off the podium and Jorge Navarro, sixth, finished as the best Spanish rider.
In the ranks of the Inde Aspar Team, Aron Canet stood out in Qatar as the best rookie in the category with eighth position. The Valencian rider was the only Moto2 rookie to score points and this weekend he wants to repeat or even improve the result, on a track where he was always among the best in pre-season tests. At his side, Hafizh Syahrin will continue his adaptation to the category, in which he did not compete for two seasons, when the engine was different from the current one. The Malaysian rider was nineteenth in Qatar, just three seconds off the points zone, and hopes to continue making up ground with the riders in front. Canet and Syahrin will have two testing sessions on Wednesday, from 11.40 to 12.20 and from 15.40 to 16.20, local time (GMT +2) to resume sensations and start the season again with the best preparation.
Aron Canet:
“The first race in Spain comes after this tough period and it is good news for lovers of our sport. We are focused again on trying to return to the feelings we had at the beginning of the season, which were very positive. It will be a very hot race, but we are going to try to enjoy it as much as possible.”
Hafizh Syahrin:
“We are happy to be back in action after several months. It will be different, with no fans in the stands, but I am happy to be able to get back on the bike. I have trained hard during this period, I have spent time with the family, but now it is time to return to work. It will be two tough weekends, but it is good to have two testing sessions before starting, although they will pass quickly because it is only 40 minutes.”
