14th for Alcoba in the #AustrianGP, Rodrigo 20th

Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 does not shine in the second of two back-to-back events at Spielberg, with Jeremy Alcoba only 14th and Gabriel Rodrigo 20th at the finish line.

If Rodrigo’s race was already compromised due to the two penalties received yesterday by race direction (pit-lane start and long-lap penalty after the incidents with Yamanaka and Suzuki), there were surely higher expectations for Alcoba.

The Spanish rider, who was starting from the front row of the grid after another brilliant qualifying performance, was unable to capitalise as he lost touch with the front group and finished with two points under his belt – despite a long-lap penalty. He is now tenth in the standings with 52 points, one ahead of his teammate.

JEREMY ALCOBA

Unfortunately I still struggle at this track and I didn’t manage to stay with the front group. I gave my all and 14th is definitely not much, especially as we’re starting from the front row. We need to reset immediately and focus on Silverstone, a track that suits me a lot better.

GABRIEL RODRIGO

This morning I was quite down motivation wise for the race. I paid a big price for the mistakes I’ve made but I must say the race has helped me quite a lot. We had the pace to stay with the front runners and that’s a positive on one side and a regret on the other. We gathered some good data ahead of Silverstone where we’ll try to avoid silly mistakes and get back to where we deserve to be.
