9th place finish for Diggia at #SanMarinoGP, Bulega 17th
Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 did not shine today at the Misano World Circuit – the home track for the Faenza-based squad – despite the top ten finish by Fabio Di Giannantonio. This result surely does not make the #21 rider happy, who was looking for more in front of the home crowd. He eventually bagged seven points, which did not help his situation in the championship as his main rivals (Fernandez and Canet) finished ahead of him.
Nicolò Bulega could not finish higher than 17th, at the end of a weekend in which the Italian showed he could battle for the top ten. After showing a great pace in the warm up, the expectations for the race were very different – as he experienced a few too many issues, including maybe a not perfectly-performing tyre.
FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
I can’t be happy as we were looking for a very different result. I was expecting a bit better because the feeling this morning was good, but the race was super quick and I lost some ground at the beginning due to a coming together. We still need something set-up wise, so we will have to work a lot more in order to go back to the type of performance and results we are capable of.
NICOLÒ BULEGA
The race data is on our side. It’s very likely that, just like in FP3, once we changed tyres the performance of the bikes changed dramatically. Too bad, because I did well in the warm up and showed a pace that would have allowed us to comfortably be in the top ten; instead we struggled a lot and took many risks in order to be as fast as we could.
