Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco to start #AlgarveGP from 4th and 5th on the grid
The Pramac Racing riders Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco will start from fourth and fifth place respectively on the starting grid. The day began positively for the Spanish rider Jorge Martin. He gained direct access to Q2 with a time of 1:39.663. Jorge managed to take a further step forwards for the qualifiers. A time of 1:38.916, marked at the seventh lap, earned him the fourth position in the classification.
A strong wind during FP3 didn’t allow Johann Zarco to best express himself, forcing him to take part in the Q1 session. He managed to do very well in this Q1 session and marked the best time on each of his runs. The French rider set his best time at 1:38.918 during Q2 – placing himself right behind his teammate by just two thousandths of a second. Tomorrow he will start in fifth place.
Jorge Martín
I am very happy. I knew I had the right cards in my hand to do well, but I didn’t expect to be on the second row. I feel I am in great shape. Physically I am doing well, and I am ready for tomorrow.
Johann Zarco
I am satisfied with how we concluded the day. To start from the second row is very important. I was suffering due to the wind this morning and so I wasn’t able to earn myself direct access to Q2. We did, however, react in the best possible manner.
