Jorge Martin secures Rookie of the year with 2nd in the #ValenciaGP, 6th for Johann Zarco
The 2021 season ends with Jorge Martin on the podium here at Valencia after a masterful performance. The Spanish rider began perfectly and led for more than half of the race, until he was overtaken by Pecco. He finished in second position in an all-Ducati podium.
Johann Zarco lost places at the start and found himself in tenth. The French rider was involved in a series of important overtakes and ended his last race in sixth place. He is fourth in the overall classification.
I couldn’t have asked for more. We finished what was a difficult race for me, with an important podium. It has been an incredible year, filled with both highs and lows, from which we have come out stronger than ever. I would like to thank my team, Ducati, and my family.
I started off badly and lost a lot of positions. I was, however, able to race well. My race-pace was good and I made many overtakes. I am satisfied with my season and happy to have ended the year on a good note There is a lot of motivation to do well next year.
