Tough #IndonesianGP for Nakagami – 19th at wet Mandalika
The first Indonesian Grand Prix for 25 years took place in wet conditions at the Mandalika International Street Circuit on Sunday with LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider Takaaki Nakagami finishing in 19th position. The race was delayed by over an hour due to a heavy storm on the island of Lombok and was reduced to 20 laps when the action did finally get underway in front of 60,000 fans.
Taka – who was fifth fastest in the dry warm-up session – faced an uphill battle after starting from the back of the grid. With rain and standing water on the surface complicating matters for the riders, the Japanese star battled hard to finish the race and is now focused on improving performance for the next round in Argentina.

It was a really tough one for me with the delay and the change from dry to wet conditions. The grip level was ok, but unfortunately, I had some issues with the helmet visor and it was really difficult to see anything during the race. That made it difficult to stay on the line, so I couldn’t really do anything. Of course, we were not expecting this result, we’re really disappointed with the weekend but we must now move on to Argentina.
