Sergio Garcia and Izan Guevara take superb 1-2 at the #ItalianGP
Jorge Martínez “Aspar” has celebrated his 40 years in the World Championship with a new double, the second of the season, this time with the positions exchanged. The winner of the Italian Grand Prix was Sergio García Dols, who achieved his third victory of the season and the fourth for the team. Second has finished Izan Guevara, who had crossed the finish line in first position but has seen how, after exceeding the track limits on the last lap, he received a sanction that relegated him to second place.
With this result, Valresa GASGAS Aspar leads the world championship with Sergio García Dols in first and Izan Guevara second. Likewise, it leads the teams’ standings with a 97-point advantage over the second. In the constructors’ classification, GASGAS is also the leader, with 165 points, 31 more than KTM.
VICTORY Sergio García:
“I’m really happy! For me the last race here at Mugello last year was the most difficult – it’s really difficult to win here – so I’m very happy to get this result. I had seen Izan had exceeded the track limits and I’ve tried to overtake him in the last corner. I just wanted to get the victory.”
2nd Izan Guevara:
“I’m really happy for my third consecutive world championship podium. It gives us good points for the championship. I’m really happy for my team to get these two positions as well. In the last sector I hit track limits, and although I’m really happy with my pace in the race – I will try to push at more at the next race in Barcelona.”
