Bitter #AustrianGP as Vietti crashes out of 3rd place and Antonelli finishes in 16th
A difficult Sunday for the Mooney VR46 Racing Team at the Austrian GP with the retirement of Celestino Vietti after a crash during the 16th lap when he was fighting for the victory. Sixteenth, really close to the points, for Niccolò Antonelli.
Starting from the P7 on the grid and with an excellent pace that allowed him to climb the standings up to the third place, Celestino set the fastest race lap four times before being forced to retire. In P3 at 9 laps to the chequered flag and close to the leading duo, he was the victim of a crash that compromised his race. With today’s zero, he remains third in the Championship with 156 points and a gap of 27 points from the first guy (Ogura, 183 points).
The rookie Niccolò, instead, touched the top 16, protagonist of a good recovery from the 25th box of the grid. Step by step, this is the best result of the season so far, just on the eve of the home GP in Misano Adriatico in two weeks.
Niccolo Antonelli
My best race of the year so far, I’m happy. Starting from the back is never easy, the first laps are always very complicated and it is difficult to find space. I managed to keep a good pace and I got the points at the eve of Misano, an excellent base from which to restart for the home race.

Definitely a difficult Sunday and a bad mistake that affected the entire job done during the weekend. I am very sorry for the Team: they did a lot, the bike was perfect, I was able to keep a great pace. Such a pity. We are fast, now we have to be concrete and constant to face the next races.
