Diggia in the points with 11th in the #AustrianGP, DNF for Enea

Enea Bastianini’s race at the Red Bull Ring only lasted five full laps, as the standard bearer of Team Gresini MotoGP suffered a technical problem following a jolt at the front-end while on the kerb and was forced to retire while in the podium battle other Ducati riders. This is a difficult result to swallow for the rider #23, especially after yesterday’s maiden MotoGP pole position.

Fabio Di Gianantonio had a solid race and is back in the top 15 as he crossed the line in eleventh place in the GP of Spielberg. This is an important result for the #49, who continued in the upward trend shown throughout the weekend – on a track that had never really been kind to him in the past.

All in all we did a good race and scored some points. The weekend as a whole was a positive one, especially if we look at where we were on Friday: we worked in the right direction and it was clear in the race. I was hoping to do a little better, but we need to build on this result for the rest of the season.

Too bad, because we had a great pace at the beginning and maybe Martin shouldn’t have overtaken me. When I passed him back at the exit of turn nine I ended up with on the kerb and the rim broke. This is definitely the DNF we didn’t need, especially because we had the pace to win or at least to get on the podium.
