Stunning 4th place for Luca Marini in #AustrianGP, Bezzecchi 9th
Luca Marini crossed the finish line of the Austrian GP in fourth place, achieving the best career result in the top class and giving the Mooney VR46 Racing Team the first place among the Independent Teams today. Great recovery from the back of the group also for Marco Bezzecchi, first among the rookies and once again in the top 10.
Starting from the 13th position of the grid on the Ducati DesmosediciGP, thanks to an excellent start, Luca was able to keep the contact with the leading riders. Sixth halfway through the race, after a double overtake on the Aprilia, he climbs up the rankings short of the podium and signs his best performance in MotoGP. With today’s 13 points, he achieves 69 in the overall, 13th place on the eve of the home GP in Misano.
Another proof of strength and a really solid performance for Marco, 20th on the grid and already in the points after the first lap. He crossed the finish line in ninth place, a result that means the 14th position in the Championship with 68 points, first among the rookies.

A difficult, strange and complicated weekend for everyone where we worked very well. The feeling with the bike was not easy to manage: it felt like being on a roller coaster, one session was ok, the other a disaster. We made a perfect tyre choice and the work with the team was also very good. An aspect that makes me proud because it is the first year that I have worked with this group of guys in MotoGP. I set a good start, the first laps were not perfect, the riders with the soft tyre were able to push straight away while I had to wait and the gap was too big then. We are growing, we have great potential and we can be competitive and fight for the podium in the next races, also in Misano, our home GP.

A great race: I got off a good start and I was really strong, I’m happy! I managed the rear tyre very well, I didn’t stress it too much and I made a difference in the final laps. A great job by the whole team: the entire crew, the Ducati guys and Vale who supports us from home. We go to Misano ready to give our best.
