Canet scores podium finish with 3rd in #ThaiGP, Navarro 20th
The Moto2 race in Buriram was completely rained out, with the red flag appearing and stopping the race with only 8 laps to go and with no possibility of restarting.
Even so, with just a few laps to go, Canet made an incredible comeback to take the lead after just 3 laps. Spectacular race for the FlexBox HP 40 rider who crossed the finish line in third position on the last lap before the red flag and has served him to add his 3rd podium in the last 4 races.
Difficult race for his team mate, Jorge Navarro. Sito Pons’ pupil started ninth and with the pace to have a good race in the dry, but in the water Navarro did not feel comfortable in these difficult conditions and finished 20th.
Arón Canet, 3rd, +3.112
I am very happy with this third position today. The truth is that it was very difficult to ride in the conditions that we did and I started very far back, but you never stop believing and I knew that we could come back. It was very exciting and spectacular and it reminds us that the race is on Sunday and we must always give our best. Thanks to the team for their work and we leave Thailand with another podium.
Jorge Navarro, 20th, +1 lap
I’m quite disappointed with today’s race. I had a good pace and I could have had a good race, but it started raining on the grid and that affected everything. Honestly, I thought the race direction would stop the race because I couldn’t see anything and it was very dangerous to ride like that, and they stopped it after 8 laps, very strange. We didn’t have the rhythm in the water and I didn’t adapt to it, but that’s racing in the water, it’s a lottery, and today we were unlucky.
