Enea Bastianini secures 3rd in championship with 8th in #ValenciaGP, Fabio Di Giannantonio 15th

The curtain comes down at the end of one of the most incredible seasons in the history of Gresini Racing, with Enea Bastianini – who was eighth at the chequered flag today – finishing third overall in the 2022 MotoGP World Championship and Best Independent Team Rider.

The Valencia race was a very complicated one, with plenty of crashes and tension in the air: after a disappointing qualifying result, Enea did a great job in staying focused and finding a solid result in the points, while at the same time overtaking Aprilia and Aleix Espargaró in the standings (with the Spaniard forced to retire few minutes after the start of the race).

Fabio Di Giannantonio also put together an excellent performance as he was back in the points with a fifteenth-place finish. The Italian wraps up his rookie MotoGP season with 24 points and he will turn his head on 2023 from Tuesday already, with Alex Marquéz alongside him.

Team Gresini MotoGP wishes to congratulate Pecco Bagnaia and the whole Team Ducati Corse for the World Championship title. Please, treat Enea well 😉

It was a difficult race and I only at the end I got to know Aleix had retired. We did a good job, especially after a disastrous Saturday. I’m happy with this third place and the best independent rider title. I think it has been a great season and I’d like Team Gresini for supporting me in every moment. This season result also goes to Fausto.

I have always been strong here and I was hoping for something more. We’re back in the points and that’s good and the one point scored today was an important one, as we had been missing the top 15 for quite a long time. Now we’ll rest for a few hours before diving into 2023.
