Fifth for Ayumu Sasaki and eleventh for John McPhee as the #ValenciaGP closes 2022 season
The last race of the Max Racing Team in Moto3 ended with the fifth position for Ayumu Sasaki in Valencia and 11th for John McPhee. An excellent result was achieved by the Japanese rider in the world ranking too, where Ayumu was fourth, and John again 11th. In 2022 Ayumu got 2 Victories, 4 second places, 3 third places and two pole positions. As part of that overall score he took an amazing win at Sepang only two weeks ago.
Both the riders’ efforts also contributed to a great result in the Team ranking, where Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max Racing was third.
AYUMU SASAKI :
“it was a very good season. First of all, I want to say thank you to all my team and sponsors. It has been the best season of Moto3 so far for me. In the first half of the Championship, we went through some difficulties due to the injuries and some bad luck as well, but then in the second half of it, it was just incredible to finish with nine podiums, two wins and some incredible weekends. Also here, even if I struggled a lot on Friday, we improved throughout the weekend, and finally finished P5. We collected a lot of data for the next year. I will have the same crew and the same people around, so yeah, our target is only one, to win the championship and we will try to start with the right foot. I can’t wait to start again next year and try to do the best. Finally, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone that supported me during this season.”
JOHN MCPHEE :
“It was an emotional race for me, my last race in Moto3. It was nice to be consistent and strong throughout all the weekend. I felt competitive. I had a good run of results, from Phillip Island to the win at Sepang and this was the best way to end my Moto3 career. Then here we have been in the top 10 all the weekend! A big thank you to the team, to everyone to support me, everyone that stood by me even in the difficult moments. I pushed 100% always and tried to finish the season in the best way, so thank you to everyone. I look forward to the next chapter. All I can say is thank you. I am very grateful for all.”
