Taka Nakagami fights back to finish 14th in #ValenciaGP

 In MotoGP, News

Takaaki Nakagami battled back superbly to claim an impressive points finish in the season-ending Valencia Grand Prix at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Competing in the MotoGP class for the first time since his overcoming a nasty hand injury, the LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider showed courage and determination to take 14th position in Sunday’s 27-lap race.

Departing from the back of the field following a three-place grid penalty, Taka got away to a solid start and made up places in the opening exchanges. He maintained his focus as a number of riders ahead of him crashed out and ended just behind KTM duo Remy Gardner and Raul Fernandez, signing off the 2022 campaign with two more World Championship points.

Takaaki Nakagami – 14th

Of course I’m really happy, I scored points and finished 14th. I started from 24th, so I gained 10 positions which is a great result after missing three races since the Japanese GP and coming back for the last race of the season. I’m happy, from the first day we’ve made good progress and the team did an amazing job this weekend so I appreciate all my team members. It’s a nice way to finish and now I’ll try to recover for one day and then prepare for Tuesday’s test. That will be really important for next season so I’m really looking forward to the next chapter.
