Albert Arenas finishes #ArgentinaGP in 9th, Pedro Acosta 12th

The Argentina Grand Prix provided an atypical Moto2 race, reduced to 14 laps due to the fact that the riders had not been able to ride in the wet in practice. The Red Bull KTM Ajo riders faced a difficult race in which they fought to get the best possible result. Albert Arenas finished in ninth position and Pedro Acosta twelfth, both in the points.

Acosta started the race at Termas de Rio Hondo from fifth position on the grid, and whilst he dropped positions on the opening corners he was part of a large group and attempted to navigate the treacherous conditions. After falling outside of the points, he managed to recover good feelings and maintained a steady pace, moving up to twelfth before the chequered flag.

Arenas made a good start that has allowed him to stay in the top 10 in the early going. Despite the complicated situation this Sunday, he managed to maintain a consistent pace so as not to lose touch with his rivals. After 14 laps, Arenas moved up the order and found a good feeling, concluding the race ninth.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo team will travel to the United States for the third round of the season: The Grand Prix of the Americas, from April 14-16th.

We leave Argentina with more points in the standings. More than the result, I take away the work we have done and all the progress we have made. It’s important to keep making strides forward with the team and with my riding, and I hope I can apply that in Austin. Today it was important to have a solid race, given the conditions. After two GPs we have to push a little more; I think we will arrive in Austin with clear ideas, so I’m going there ready to perform at my best.

PEDRO ACOSTA

Today was a day to salvage things as much as possible and score points. It was necessary to commit the minimum number of risks and take the maximum amount of points possible home. We have taken a step forward in the wet, and it is time to take a step forward on the first few laps as well. This race has helped us to find out our strong points, since the conditions were complicated and there were few laps in the race. Thanks to the team for their work this week and now it’s time to think about the race in Austin.
