Marco Bezzecchi takes maiden win in #ArgentinaGP, 8th for Luca Marini

 In MotoGP, News

At the GP of Argentina Marco Bezzecchi signed the dream of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team, a ten-season journey, from the first steps in Moto3 in 2014 up to the MotoGP. A Sunday to remember with the first career victory in the top class for the young Italian rider who rises to first place in the general standings also thanks to the P2 in yesterday’s Sprint. More complicated race for Luca, eighth.

Starting from the second box of the grid under the rain, on the Ducati Desmosedici GP, Marco immediately took the lead of the race and managed the particular weather conditions in the best possible way. In P1 for all the 25 laps of the race, he crossed the finishing line alone and achieved the victory. With today’s 25 points, he is first in the general standings (50 points), also the first among the teams (65 points).

Eighth place for Luca, starting from the seventh place, after yesterday’s excellent result (third in the Sprint), he wasn’t able to repeat himself on the long run. In any case, he finished into the points, satisfied with the work done on the Argentine track and ready to get back on track in the USA in two weeks (Americas GP, 16 April 2023).

MARCO BEZZECCHI – 72

It’s a dream for me, the Team, my family, the Academy. And of course Vale, if I’m here today is thank to him. We are also leading the Championship! An incredible journey, everything seems perfect, and then on this circuit where I also won for the first time in Moto3. When I got up this morning and saw the rain, I wasn’t very happy. I was worried, but then, after the warm up, I realised I could do it. I believed I could achieve a great result, for me and for the whole Team. When I started, I just thought about riding gently, I saw the board from the wall and just thought about that. Then the last laps were endless. Thanks to the Team, I’ve been with these guys for many years, with some from Moto2, we’re very united, it’s an incredible emotion. Even Messi’s shirt, on the podium, I don’t follow football, but he is an idol in the world of sport. Really thank you all for this day not to be forgotten.

LUCA MARINI – 10

It wasn’t the race I was hoping for after yesterday’s Sprint. I’m sorry, I wasn’t fast, I lacked grip and I couldn’t do better. I tried not to lose too much ground, I managed the rear tyre as best I could. In these cases it is still important to bring home points and gain experience. Congratulations to Marco and the whole Team. He made the difference: strong in the warm up and really good at the start.
