It was a positive race Sunday for PONS WEGOW LOS40 at Assen after a difficult Saturday qualifying session for Sito Pons’ two riders, Canet and García, who started the Grand Prix from eleventh and seventeenth position, respectively.

Canet, who had his fast lap cancelled due to a yellow flag, started behind but was aware of the pace he had to be able to make a comeback and be in the front positions. No more and no less, the PONS WEGOW LOS40 rider followed the script he had imagined and was fighting for the third step of the podium, finishing fifth and adding good points in his locker, and going on holiday also being fifth, with 76 points.

García also had a good race. The young PONS WEGOW LOS40 rider continues with his adaptation to the intermediate category and is constant in every race. Today he started seventeenth, again in Q2, and he moved up several positions until he crossed the finish line thirteenth. With this result, García adds three more points, he is also thirteenth overall with 37 points and leads the rookie of the year classification.

Arón Canet, 5th, +4.884

I’m happy with fifth place today. We started from the back and we came back well and it’s true that I expected more, as we missed the podium by nothing. Physically, we were physically hurt and it was a very tough race in the heat, so we can be satisfied with the result.

Sergio Garcia, 13th, +20.408

Today was a very tough race because of the heat. We had a good start, we made up some positions, but we lacked a bit of pace to be closer to the top 10. We are still learning and gaining experience and we can be happy.
